Your base is our hotel in Holwerd, the perfect base for two wonderful days out. On day two, you'll sail to beautiful Ameland, where you'll have the freedom to explore the island at your own pace. Stroll along the beach, cycle, relax on a terrace, or explore picturesque villages—you set the pace.

The next day, a beautiful bike ride of approximately 60 kilometers is on the agenda. You'll cycle through the charming coastal town of Moddergat to the charming town of Dokkum, and then past Birdaard and the terp village of Hegebeintum. We'll provide you with a clear cycling route based on the junction system.

Experience the magic of Northeast Friesland by bike and explore two of the beautiful Eleven Cities: Dokkum and Leeuwarden.

In two beautiful stages you will be taken along part of the Eleven Cities Route, passing through two historic cities and enjoying breathtaking Frisian views.

The first stage takes you from Holwerd along characteristic places such as Moddergat, towards Dokkum, Birdaard and the terp village of Hegebeintum.

The second stage leads via the iconic Bartlehiem to Leeuwarden, the capital of Friesland, known for its rich history and vibrant atmosphere. You'll cycle back to Holwerd via Oude Bildtzijl and the seawall.

Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or looking for a relaxing mini-break, this route offers the best of the North. Thanks to the well-defined stages using cycling junctions, exploring the area is easy and enjoyable.

The SPAR Foodclub is a 5-minute walk away. There's a large Foodclub where you can buy a convenient meal. If you're looking for a microwave-safe meal, you can heat it up in the "Opkamer" (Upstairs Room), where you'll also find plates and cutlery.
